United Nations’ Experts on People of African Descent: Mississippi Mission

The United Nations (UN) Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent (WGEPAD) visited Jackson along with four other cities including Baltimore, Chicago, New York and Washington D.C. The purpose of the visit was to gather as much evidence about the current state and conditions of people of African descent in the United States.

Cooperation Jackson and the Jackson Human Rights Institute hosted a full day hearing on January 23rd which focused on testimonies given by survivors of human rights abuses, activist and scholars with the three experts posing questions for further understanding.
